About Stockbridge
map
The Town of Stockbridge Massachusetts was founded in 1793 and is located in Berkshire County.

There is so much to do in Stockbridge and those in town should take a drive down the most famous Main Street in America which was painted by Norman Rockwell. There are many historical homes in the town which include the Merwin House and the Mission House as well as Naumkeag. Other attractions I the community are the Chesterwood Museum and the studio of Daniel Chester French who was the sculptor of “The Minute Man” and the Lincoln Memorial. There is also the new Rockwell museum as well as the Berkshire Botanical Garden and Tanglewood which is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Now days the town is a quiet rural bedroom community with a lot of history as well as integrity for the future!

Join ecologist and plant geek Drew Monthie for a plant walk and talk at Bartholomew's Cobble, a Trustees of Reservations property in Sheffield, MA. Long noted for its exceptional collection of rare plants, this unique site contains a world-class collection of ephemeral wildflowers and ferns native to the northeast woodland. Following the walk, take an optional, moderate, one-half-hour hike to the top of Hurlburt Hill to admire one of Berkshire County's finest views. The group is invited to picnic there, surrounded by nesting bluebirds and bobolinks! Drew Monthie is a horticulturalist, garden designer and ecologist working in upper New York State. He is committed to teaching about the importance of using native plants to provide beauty and preserve biodiversity in yards and gardens. He has a special interest in ethno-botany. Are you my Mother?: A Psychoanalytic Search for the Maternal

How do we, as adults, hold in mind the images we have of our mothers: real, desired, and imagined? In her award-winning graphic memoir,Are You My Mother,Alison Bechdel interweaves her psychoanalysis, her interest in the work of the British analyst, D.W. Winnicott, and her past and present relationship with her mother to create a comic drama. Using Bechdels work as an illustrative focus, this panel will discuss psychoanalytic and psychodynamic perspectives on the search for the maternal in treatment and in everyday life. Panelists will use Bechdel's work to show how the maternal transference can surface and be used in therapy, to suggest how Winnicott's work can be integrated in dyadic parent-child therapy, and to explore how individuals develop representations of their mothers, fathers, and mothers in relationship to fathers.

As case material will be presented, this panel is intended for clinicians only.

Familiarity with Bechdel's book is not necessary.
