About Stockbridge
map
The Town of Stockbridge Massachusetts was founded in 1793 and is located in Berkshire County.

There is so much to do in Stockbridge and those in town should take a drive down the most famous Main Street in America which was painted by Norman Rockwell. There are many historical homes in the town which include the Merwin House and the Mission House as well as Naumkeag. Other attractions I the community are the Chesterwood Museum and the studio of Daniel Chester French who was the sculptor of “The Minute Man” and the Lincoln Memorial. There is also the new Rockwell museum as well as the Berkshire Botanical Garden and Tanglewood which is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Now days the town is a quiet rural bedroom community with a lot of history as well as integrity for the future!

SECOND RESPONSE Training - Working With Children After Disasters
When disaster strikes, SECOND RESPONSE works directly with affected children to mitigate the effects of post traumatic stress before PTS becomes the devastating disorder known as PTSD. Play defeats trauma by harmlessly releasing repressed emotions and with them stored hormones, restoring the physiology of the body to stability and balance and children to joyfulness and trust. The safe, healthy development of children around the world continues to be threatened by natural disasters, political violence, pandemics, immigration issues and other adversities that can have life-altering consequences for individuals, families and the future of all societies. Tens of millions of children each year are exposed to disasters and conflicts and many are displaced as a result. This unique program has two goals: the first aim is to prevent and reduce children's post-traumatic stress-related symptoms, depressive symptoms, somatic complaints, functional impairment, separation anxiety and generalized anxiety - all of which are common in children who have experienced trauma; the second is to build capacity on the ground so that future events can be met with similar, effective responses by local caregivers (that's us!). Visit www.WMMRC.org for more info and to join the Medical Reserve Corps in your area.
